International Business

The Bachelor of Science in International Business degree is designed to provide an understanding of businesses in a global environment. This program equips students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry level positions in International companies. Areas of focus in international business include marketing, banking, finance, economics, exporting, importing, cultural protocol and foreign language. Students will learn the social/cultural, legal, political and technological barriers to international business; understand international trade and investment opportunities; while demonstrating how to manage international business affairs.

Upon completion of the program, the student should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to employ effective business decisions in a global environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of foreign affairs and protocol.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and research methods for examining social, cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic obstacles to international business.
  • Examine the legal and political barriers to international business.
  • Research and examine the technological challenges in international business transactions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of importing and exporting in a global market.
  • Describe the advantages and disadvantages of importing and exporting goods.
  • Recognize and manage marketing variances prior to entry into a global economy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply financial and economic knowledge in international business affairs.
  • Learn and understand the various forms of business in a global environment.
  • Examine and evaluate the various international business models.
  • Describe the cross-border mergers and acquisitions by buyer and seller.
  • Understand, describe and interpret changes in exchange rates.
  • Understand and explain the international laws governing intellectual property to include patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Think critically at a conceptual level and by using mathematical analysis as well as the scientific method; write and speak effectively; use basic computer applications; and understand human behavior in the context of the greater society in a culturally diverse world.
